Philippines, Thailand agree to further enhance cooperation

Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III and Thailand Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Friday that the two sides are to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Aquino received in Malacanang, the presidential palace, Prayut and the members of his delegation.

"Our discussions specifically focused on trade and investments, security, and the strengthening of our people-to-people ties," Aquino said during the joint press statements after their meeting.

He said the two countries are also committed to work towards the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Combating Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and also of the Memorandum of Agreement on the Exchange of Professional Teachers.

Prayut said the two countries will advance to enhance the " Partnership for Prosperity" between the two countries in various areas.

Following the deadly blast in Bangkok recently where at least 20 people were killed, he assured that the situation in his country was under control.

He said security officials are investigating and searching for perpetrators to bring them to justice.
