PML-N on Monday boycotted the banquet hosted in honour of Turkish Prime Minister Recip Tayyip Erdogan by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani whom it has refused to accept as prime minister after his conviction by the Supreme Court. The party lawmakers, however, attended the joint session of parliament and Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan spoke extensively to welcome Erdogan and emphasised the deep sentiments of friendship existing for Turkey across party divide in Pakistan. Chaudhry Nisar said that his party could have chosen some other course at the joint session because of existing political differences but chose to shelve it in deference to the Turkish guest.
