South Korean police on Thursday used water cannons to disperse a rally in the centre of the country’ capital, the Yonhap news agency reported. The protesters demanded that the government resume all suspended projects aimed at the unification of North Korea and South Korea. According to the police, more than 3.5 thousand protesters took part in the rally. They gathered near the Seoul Station and headed for the city mayor’s office. The protesters blocked several streets in downtown Seoul, causing serious traffic jams. South Korean police have for the first time used water cannons to disperse a rally during Park Geun-hye’s presidency.
