Beijing police have rescued a newborn baby girl who was found dumped in a public toilet face down in a public toilet pipe.
The baby was sent to a hospital and is in stable condition.
The Xicheng District Public Security Bureau on Tuesday confirmed the story after it was first revealed by the Beijing Times.
It said police received a report on Sunday saying an infant was abandoned at a public toilet in Qianer Hutong in Xicheng District.
Police saw the child's feet in the toilet pipe upon arrival and successfully pulled her out.
The newborn did not appear to have any physical defects, according to police from Tian Qiao police station.
The parents of the girl are still being identified.
