President of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) of Punjab province Mazoor Wattoo resigned from the party on Tuesday after his defeat in the general elections. Wattoo said that he could not justify holding the position after the defeat in the province. PPP has won six provincial seats in Punjab Assembly in the recent election, held May 11. The PPP Punjab chairman lost his seat of national assembly in NA-146 to the Pakistan Muslim League candidate. He had sent his resignation to the partys leader, Wattoo added. Manzoor Wattoo won the election in 2008 as an independent candidate and joined PPP and become the party chairman of Punjab in 2012. He served as federal minister for Kashmir affairs during 2008-2013.
