Practical actions within the Russian-Chinese Peace Mission 2013 anti-terrorist exercises at the Chebarkul firing range, Chelyabinsk region, have ended successfully. During the exercises, servicemen have seized an imaginary base of terrorists at the village of Kaslino. According to the plot, gang formations reinforced their positions in the area. Snipers winched to neutralize gang formations. Mechanized infantry servicemen made an assault on buildings, which had been seized by imaginary terrorists. Mortar batteries of the two army launched fire at the targets. During the assault, Russian and Chinese servicemen used BMP-2 combat vehicles, T-72 tanks and Su-24 bomber fighters of the Central Military District, as well as the Flying Leopards fighters. After the base was seized Russian and Chinese units started neutralizing scattered groups of terrorists. The Peace Mission 2013 exercises take place from July 27 to August 15 and involve over 1,500 servicemen and about 200 units of military equipment. Earlier, Shi Xiangyuan, deputy chief of staff of the Shenyang Military Region of the People’s Liberation Army, told Itar-Tass: “This year the Russian and Chinese presidents have taken the decision to hold the Peace Mission 2013 exercises. We’re glad that both countries have the high level of trust to each other. We’re not competitors, but we’re partners. Trust between the two countries became the unique particularity of the Peace Mission.” He noted that strategic cooperation between the Russian and Chinese armies had reached the high level in the recent years. “We’re pleased that we conducted the exercises in the military district where 40 percent of the Russian Armed Forces stay. I’m sure that the Peace Mission 2013 will yield results. This is the new stage of military cooperation between the Chinese and Russian armies,” the Chinese military said.
