President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad departed for Yerevan Friday morning on an official visit to that country. President Ahmadinejad’s visit to Armenia takes place upon an invitation by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and in line with expansion of bilateral ties between two countries. Exporting Iran’s oil products to Armenia and construction of railways are among main topics of discussion during President Ahmadinejad’s one-day visit to Yerevan. The volume of trade transactions was 270 million dollars in 2010 which has increased to 300 million dollars in 2011. Over the past 20 years, energy sector has played an important role in economic Iran-Armenia relations.
