President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi received on Wednesday the representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Sana'a, Naveed Hussain, on the occasion of ending his tenure in Yemen. President Hadi expressed his appreciation for the practical and field activities carried out by the UNHCR’s representative during his tenure in providing aid to displaced people in the provinces of Abyan and Aden and to the refugees from the Horn of Africa, who flow constantly into Yemen. "There are more than two million refugees from the Horn of Africa in Yemen, mostly from Somalia", Hadi said, wishing that Somalia restores its state and its institutions to what it was before. For his part, Hussain voiced his appreciation for the attention , care and help received by the organization to achieve its tasks and duties. He pointed out that the organization tries to carry out a survey for the refugees but their number is increasing constantly, noting that over 107 thousand refugees arrived in Yemen during the last year only. “The Yemen bears alone large burdens of the influx of refugees from the Horn of Africa and this is supposed to be in cooperation from the regional and international community", the UNHCR’s representative added.
