Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Donald Tsang, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Friday, while attending the APEC Leaders’ Meeting in Honolulu. Mr. Tsang briefed President Hu Jintao on the SAR government’s work in dealing with the current international financial crisis. He also spoke about Hong Kong’s economic developments and thanked the central government for its support. President Hu Jintao gave full affirmation to the Hong Kong SAR government’s work. On the same day, President Hu Jintao also met with Lien Chan, the honorary chairman of the Taiwan-based Kuomintang as both reaffirmed the "1992 Consensus", which is the foundation for peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.
