Afghan President Hamid Karzai has strongly condemned the killing of civilians allegedly by NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) air raids during operations against Taliban militants, according to a statement of Presidential Palace on Monday. "President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned the ISAF air strike that claimed the lives of 11 children in Shigal district of Kunar province," the statement said. The killing took place on Saturday in Shigal, 125 km east of Kabul. At least 10 civilians were killed and six others, all women, sustained injuries, some of them in critical condition as NATO-led forces aircrafts pounded Taliban hideouts in Shigal district Saturday, district governor of Shigal Zalmai Khan said Sunday. President Karzai, according to the statement, has also constituted a commission to visit the affected area in Shigal and initiate a thorough investigation. NATO-led ISAF has yet to make comment.
