President of Jordan's senate discusses bilateral relations with Swedish official

Jordan's Senate President Abdul Raouf Rawabdeh met on Wednesday with First Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Susanne Eberstein to discuss ways to boost cooperation between Jordan and Sweden, mainly in the parliamentary field. Rawabdeh highlighted the importance of Sweden's role within the EU to support efforts that aim at achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East. He also briefed the delegation about Jordan's reform process that is aimed at boosting democracy and public participation in decision making, and on Jordan's parliamentary life as well as duties of the Senate. Rawabdeh also reviewed challenges facing Jordan, mainly in the energy and water fields as well as the pressure exerted by the rising numbers of Syrian refugees on the Kingdom's various sectors. Talks during the meeting, also dealt with regional and international issues of common interest. The Swedish official on his part, highlighted the strong ties between the two countries as well as the need to maintain coordination and consultations on regional developments and hailed as well the reforms achieved by Jordan as well as efforts to bring about peace in the region.
