President Rahmon opens Tajik embassy in Abu Dhabi

President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan opened today his country's new embassy building in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy, Bobokalonov Yusuf, Tajik Charge d'affaires, ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the UAE.

President Rahmon hoisted his country's flag while the band played the national anthem of Tajikistan.

In a statement he made after opening the embassy, President Rahmon said developing multifaceted ties with the UAE was a key approach of his country's foreign policy.

"We witness a memorable moment of inaugurating the new building of Tajikistan embassy in the UAE, which we look at as a key Arab partner," he said.

President Rahmon applauded the progressive ties between the UAE and Tajikistan, saying the diplomatic relations between the two countries, established 20 years ago, are characterised by the mutual interest to develop and sustain bilateral co-operation in the long run.

He went on to say, "Growing and enriching such relations is mostly a task of the diplomatic missions. The embassy staff play a pivotal role in executing the country's foreign policy and in enhancing ties with the host country. I am confident that our embassy in Abu Dhabi will do what it takes to boost ties of friendship and co-operation with the UAE."

President Rahmon recalled his visit to the UAE in 1995 and his meeting with the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his visit in 2007.

"In every visit, I see remarkable progress in every field. The UAE has come a long way in economic and tourist development, thanks to the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan," he noted.
