His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister received Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable John Baird, today at Riffa Palace. The meeting was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa. His Royal Highness expressed determination to further build upon the series of reforms led by His Majesty King Hamad in the interests of all Bahraini citizens, noting that progress and development must proceed in line with the laws that govern the Kingdom. His Royal Highness added that the Bahrain National Dialogue is an important milestone and expressed his wish for a successful outcome based on consensus among all parties involved. His Royal Highness welcomed the visit of Foreign Minister Baird, noting the importance of such high level visits to boosting bilateral cooperation. His Royal Highness commended the constructive role the government of Canada plays in fostering the principles of international peace and security, whilst safeguarding the right to freedom of religion. On the economic front, His Royal Highness stated the government of Bahrain's intention to further developing the national economy in order to support domestic commercial interests and attract foreign investment. His Royal Highness and Foreign Minister Baird also discussed a number of regional and international issues, and underlined the importance of maintaining regional security and stability. Foreign Minister John Baird expressed his appreciation of His Royal Highness’ interest in enhancing bilateral ties between Bahrain and Canada. He also noted Bahrain's progress with regards to economic development and ease of doing business, underlined by the Kingdom’s high ranking in international measurements.
