A team of prosecutors on Tuesday examined the premises of the Coptic Cathedral in Abbassiya. The examination showed major damage in the room adjacent to the main room of the papal office and that four surveillance cameras were destroyed. The examination also showed traces of shotgun pellets inside and outside the Coptic Orthodox Church as well as tear gas canisters over the papal office. The Coptic Cathedral in Abbassiya witnessed deadly clashes on Sunday during a funeral for Copts killed in sectarian clashes with Muslims in Qalioubiya (just north of Cairo) in one of the worst sectarian violence in Egypt in months.
