Protesters turn out for 'Day of Rage' against French leader Hollande

Protesters yelling "No to gay marriage" and "France is a nation" marched in Paris during a "Day of Rage" protest against President Francois Hollande. Fifty mostly right-wing groups participated in Sunday's protests, calling on Hollande to resign immediately and complaining his government's actions were destroying the country, Radio France Internationale reported. Several organizations such as National Front, the organization behind the anti-gay marriage "The Future for All" movement, did not participate in the protests. Protesters said the recent scandal involving Hollande's personal life brought shame upon the country. The protest came a day after Hollande announced he and long-time partner Valerie Trierweiler had separated. Organizers say 160,000 people participated in the Sunday protest while police gave the official number of protesters at 17,000.
