Alexei Pushkov, chairman of the State Duma committee on international affairs, believes the refusal by the opposition Syrian National Council to take part in Geneva-2 shows that some countries are trying to disrupt this peaceful conference. "Several countries are hoping to disrupt Geneva-2. Hence of the refusal by the Syrian National Council - which is part of the opposition - to take part in it. There will be more attempts," Pushkov said in his microblog on Twitter on Monday, Voice of Russia reported. The Syrian opposition is not independent, he said. "It is fully dependent on outside support. The interests and plans of its sponsors are behind all its steps," Pushkov said. According to earlier reports, Syrian National Council Chairman George Sabra said opposition activists from the Syrian National Council will not take part in the international conference on Syria Geneva-2.
