Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the Syrian crisis with the country’s Security Council in the wake of the latest agreement with the United States on a ceasefire in Syria, Sputnik news agency quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying on Monday.
On Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry announced a new plan on Syria, which stipulates a ceasefire that will come into force on September 12.
“The situation in Syria was discussed at the meeting in the context of the recent Russian-American agreements,” Peskov said of the long-anticipated deal reached between the Russian and US diplomats on Friday.
