Russia’s President Vladimir Putin greeted Russian and Ukrainian navy and veterans on Russia’s Navy Day and Ukraine’s Navy Day. “Today, we are celebrating these holidays jointly, and it is symbolic that Sevastopol has become the main centre of the festivity. Here, 230 years ago the base of the Black Sea squadron was founded,” Putin said. “Sevastopol has grown into a big and wonderful city. It is a legendary hero-city. The city of our common eternal military fame of Russia and Ukraine, where the military brotherhood of our peoples has been developing.” Courage, honour, loyalty to the military duty and military traditions are invariably typical for the combat composition of Naval Forces of Ukraine and Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. "They are passed from one generation to another," Putin said. He greeted all residents of Sevastopol, “whom the very history makes a basis for the eternal brotherhood of our peoples.”
