Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday he hopes his talks with his South Ossetian counterpart Leonid Tibilov would help solve some problems facing the republic. “The republic is facing very many problems,” Putin said, opening talks with Tibilov. “But today’s meeting is attended by those Russian representatives who have direct contacts with their colleagues in South Ossetia. So, the conversation will be substantial.” Despite all its problems, South Ossetia is on the path of progressive development, he said adding that certain cooperation mechanisms have already been elaborated. In August, Putin reminded, South Ossetia will mark the fifth anniversary of its independence.
