Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel stressed the need to consolidate the world community’s efforts for ensuring the observation of a ceasefire regime in Syria in a telephone conversation on Thursday, the Kremlin press service said.
They agreed that the Russian-US ceasefire deal should be the basis for observing the ceasefire, the TASS reported.
"Putin re-emphasized it was important that the US partners live up to their promises to separate the so-called moderate opposition from terrorist units. It was noted that the Russian side would continue its efforts aimed, among other things, at establishing sustainable truce and improving the humanitarian situation in Syria," the Kremlin press service stressed.
