Russia’s President Vladimir Putin participates in celebrations of the Day of the Russian Navy in the city of Baltiisk in western Kaliningrad region.
The president laid wreaths to the monument to Peter the Great - founder of the Russian Navy. And now he welcomes crews of the ships participating in the military parade.
During Putin’s presence in the city, the Yury Ivanov communication vessel will fly Russia’s St. Andrew’s colours for the first time, thus demonstrating the ship now joins the fleet. Other vessels that take part in the parade are fleet destroyer Nastoichiviy, assault landing ship Kaliningrad, frigate Admiral Grigorovich, corvette Stereguschiy, diesel-electric submarine Stary Oskol and mine sweeper Alexey Obukhov.
The president participates in celebrations of the Navy Day in different cities across Russia. In 2014, he was in Severomorsk near Murmansk, and in 2013 - in Crimea’s Sevastopol.
