Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Group of Twenty summit in St. Petersburg on September 5 - 6, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said at the ninth round of consultations on strategic security issues with member of the Chinese State Council Yang Jiechi. Patrushev recalled that the Chinese leader paid a visit to Russia in May, “which gave a new and powerful impetus to Russian-Chinese relations.” “The dialogue at the highest level will continue on September 5 - 6 at the bilateral meeting of our leaders on the sidelines of the G20 summit in St. Petersburg,” Patrushev said. Jiechi said that during the March meeting between Putin and Jinping the sides reached a number of important agreements, the gradual implementation of which gives “a real new breakthrough” in Russian-Chinese relations. “In the difficult international economic situation, we hope very much that on the results of the St. Petersburg summit the parties will be able to achieve a real breakthrough in increasing economic growth and creating jobs in the world,” Jiechi said.
