Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al Thani on Saturday slammed the UN Security Council’s positions towards the region’s crises and called for lifting the siege on Gaza Strip.
The Minister’s statement came during the inauguration of the 16th session of Doha Forum.
With regards to the Palestinian issue, Sheikh Al Thani said, “The continuation of the Israeli policy of settlement takes us far away from the two-state solution.” Achieving peace in the Middle East requires ending the occupation in Palestine as well as in the (Syrian) Golan Heights, he said.
The event was attended by experts, academics, politicians, decision-makers along with businessmen and activists in civil institutions from all over the world.
The forum discussed the ways of achieving stability and prosperity in the region and the world at large.
