Qatar has condemned the Israeli government's decision on approving the construction of 1,500 housing units at Ramat Shlomo settlement in Jerusalem, said the Foreign Ministry on Saturday. "The settlement decision constitutes a breach of international law, and a challenge to the international community, through which Israel is trying to impose a new geographic reality in occupied Jerusalem," an official source at the Foreign Ministry told Qatar News Agency (QNA). Israel's settlement and expansion practices completely ignore the international resolutions and pose a direct threat to the ongoing peace negotiations and the peace process as a whole, the source added. The international community is demanded to take a firm stand obliging Israel to freeze settlement activities, the source pointed out.
