Qatar donates US dollar 100mn to Syrian opposition

Qatar announced on Wednesday that it has provided a USD 100 million financial contribution to the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (SNCROF), the Humanitarian Assistance Coordination Unit. The donation was made upon the directives of Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported, noting that it comes in the context of humanitarian aid provided by Qatar to Syrian people in their current ordeal. Also, the Qatari contribution aims to access emergency assistance to all who need it impartially and without discrimination through coordination with all humanitarian networks operating in the humanitarian field in favor of the Syrian people, noted QNA. In addition, it indicated that the contribution emanates from the Qatari government and people's shouldering of their humanitarian and fraternal responsibility since the start of the Syrian crisis towards Syrian people and comes to alleviate their suffering and support them until they obtain their rights to freedom, dignity, and surpass their continuing two-year crisis. Moreover, it noted that Qatar stresses the continuation of its support to the Syrian people, commitment to standing by their side and provision of all kinds of necessary support to them in order to attain their full legitimate demands.
