Qatar, OHCHR discuss bilateral cooperation

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay met here on Tuesday with HE Director of the Human Rights Office at Qatar''s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Khalid bin Jassim Al-Thani, on the sidelines of the meetings of the Social Forum of the Human Rights Council, which comes within the framework of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Declaration on the Right to Development , currently held in Geneva from 3 to 5 October. The meeting dealt with the promotion and development of bilateral relations between Qatar and the Office of the High Commissioner. The High Commissioner praised the efforts of the State of Qatar on regional and international level in promoting international peace and security, which in turn contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights. The second meeting of the annual consultations between the State of Qatar and the Office of the High Commissioner will be held in Doha before the end of this year.
