The State of Qatar has pledged to pay 500 million dollars as grants and contributions to the reconstruction of Darfur. This came in the first sitting of the second day of the Donors Conference for the Reconstruction and Development of Darfur chaired by the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister , the State Minister at the Council of Ministers Ahmed Bin Abdullah AL-Mahmoud . In his address to sitting AL-Mahmoud said '' In the beginning I would like to announce that the State of Qatar led by His Highness Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa AL-Thani and His Excellency the Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad AL-Thani and from its firm stance of the importance of achieving peace in Darfur as well as the Emir initiative to establish a bank for the development of Darfur at the capital of one billion dollars and projects of early recovery currently being implemented by Qatar and its satisfaction with what have been accomplished in the development strategy in Darfur adopted in Doha I announce the commitment of State of Qatar to pay 500 million dollars as grants and contributions to the reconstruction of Darfur''.
