The State of Qatar on Monday welcomed the results of the elections in the Republic of Somalia which resulted in the victory of Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud who was elected President of Somalia A statement issued by the Emiri Diwan said while the State of Qatar welcomes the electoral process that held in an atmosphere of fair competition, it hopes this process would be a step forward for achieving Somalia’s stability and promoting approach towards reconciliation and national unity. Qatar extended greetings to Somali people on the success of free and fair elections and to the Somali new leadership which gained confidence through a democratic process, and which is also convinced that it will spare no effort to realize the security, stability and the welfare of the Somali people and to restore its role and position in the service of its nation.
