
HE Minister of Economy and Trade Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani met Monday with Argentinian Foreign Minister Hector Marcos Timerman and the delegation accompanying him with talks touching on economic, trade and investment cooperation aspects between the two countries.The two officials signed an agreement to establish a joint ministerial trade commission in a bid to “remove the obstacles that might hinder trade exchange” and create a constant point of contact so as to know about the commercial and economic variables in both countries, a press release by the Ministry of Economy and Trade said.The statement projected a growth in trade exchange in the future. Qatari exports to Argentine amounted to QR 1.2 billion in 2013 while imports were around QR 64.6 million.In a separate development, HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani met with Spanish Trade Secretary Jaime Garcia-Legaz and the delegation accompanying him.During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views and reviewed aspects of cooperation and commercial exchange between the two countries, which amounted to QR 5.34 billion in 2013. The meeting resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to create a joint trade commission between the two governments in order to increase cooperation in the economic, trade and investment fields.The Ministry of Economy and Trade’s Undersecretary Sultan Rashid Al Khater signed on behalf of the Qatari government while Garcia-Legaz represented his country’s government.
