A Pakistani national disaster management official said Sunday flash floods triggered by torrential rains have killed at least 36 people in the country's northwest, ABC News reported.
Latif ur Rehman said the rains started overnight and caused flash flooding Sunday in several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
He added that another 27 people have been admitted to hospitals with injuries.
Flash floods are commonly triggered during South Asia's summer monsoon season.
Rehman said residents of scores of villages close to rivers have been given warning to vacate and leave for safer places.
