Mariano Rajoy would be sworn in as the new Spanish Prime Minister on Dec. 21, a spokesperson from the Popular Party (PP) confirmed Thursday.Rajoy had been expected to take office on Dec. 22, following the investiture debate on Dec. 20 and 21. However, Maria Dolores de Cospedal, the Secretary General of the PP said that all these events will now be advanced one day.The members of Rajoy's cabinet, who have so far not been named, will be sworn in on Dec. 22, while the first meeting of the new cabinet will be held on Dec. 23 with the second meeting a week later on December 30.The Spanish election last month saw the PP defeated the ruling Socialists and obtained 186 seats in the 350-seat Spanish Congress while the Socialists acquired just 110 seats.
