According to the preliminary media reports from Iran's second round of parliamentary elections, reformists have won majority of the remaining seats for the legislative body.
Out of the 69 vacant seats for the run-off stage, the reformist candidates have won at least 35 seats, while the rest has gone to the moderates, independents and principlist candidates, according to semi-official Mehr news agency.
The official results of the run-off stage of the contest, held on Friday, will yet to be announced by Iran's Interior Ministry.
In the first round of the elections held on Feb. 26, 221 out of the 290 seats were filled and the fate of 69 others was left to be decided at the run-off contests with 138 candidates.
Earlier local media reports also said that the reformists and their moderate allies gained ground in the first round vote for Majlis (parliament), but none of the heavy weight political groups had been able to seize the majority.
In capital Tehran, all the 30 seats available in the Majlis had gone to the reformists and moderates.
