
Latvian Ambassador to Egypt Iveta Sulca asserted her country’s keenness on boosting relations with Egypt in all fields.
In an exclusive interview with MENA on Sunday, she said that the volume of trade between the two countries was doubled three times in the past five years in which Latvia became Egypt’s biggest partner from the Baltic states.
She pointed out that Latvia’s exports to Egypt reached 40 million Euros in the first nine months of 2016 while Egypt’s exports to Latvia reached 1.7 million Euros in the same period.
Egypt exports vegetables, fruits and dried herbs while Latvia exports wood, canned fish, oat and other food products.
The ambassador also pointed out that 44 Egyptian students are studying in Latvia’s high institutes especially in the domains of engineering and information technology.
