A Palestinian prisoner is in peril after more than seven months of hunger strike, a Palestinian prisoners' rights organization warned Monday. The heart of the prisoner Samer Al-Eissawi "may stop functioning at any time," said a statement by the Ramallah-based Palestinian Prisoner's Club.Al-Eissawi stays in an Israeli hospital, where his heart rate has decreased to 28 per minute, the statement said. The statement said that Al-Eissawi has told his lawyer that he will not stop his fast, which started in August, until he is released.By starving himself, Al-Eissawi protests his detention without a charge. An Israeli court will decide on whether to release Al- Eissawi or charge him on May 9.
