Russia and China advance new global orde

Joint action by Russia and China on the world stage reflects common positions and the need for a more democratic, fairer global order, Russia's foreign minister told an audience at the Diplomatic Academy in Moscow.
"Cooperation with China on foreign policy issues - joint assessment of the impermissibility of meddling in other countries’ affairs and organizing so-called 'colour revolutions' - is a major stabilizing factor in the current complicated international situation," said Sergey Lavrov, dwelling on key events planned for coming months.
"A number of summits are due later this year. We expect the Chinese leader in Moscow for celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Victory Day in Russia’s Great Patriotic War against Nazi Germany. The Russian president will visit China. There will be several meetings on the sidelines of the bilateral forums," the minister added.
Russia and China had multiple joint projects and though each side promoted its own economic and financial interests, talks were held between partners and friends. Deals were honoured, he said, noting tremendous potential existing in the humanitarian field.
Cultural events were planned during cross-years linking the two nations. A year of youth exchanges was underway with Russian-language academic competitions held in China and Chinese-language mirror events in Russia. Interest in learning Russian was growing in China, as was the Chinese language in Russia, the minister said.
"Russia and China are interacting within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation," he told the academy. "Preparation is under way for the summit in Ufa, Bashkortostan, where deepening bilateral cooperation and more joint projects will be discussed. The organization’s expansion will also be on the agenda."
Wider influence of the G20 group of developing economies reflected the trend towards a polycentric world order. "As for the G7 financial group, it cannot decide for all how the global currency and finance system will evolve and how questions of financing and securing financial stability in the world will be resolved, Lavrov said.
