Russia denies Geneva II talks failed

Russia said it believed the Geneva II negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition have not failed. Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexandr Lukacevic, in a press release, regretted some Western officials' announcements that the negotiations have failed. He said that despite the difficult situation in Syria, some people have been evacuated from some areas and humanitarian aid were delivered in others. These achievements, he added, would not have been happened without the negotiations in Geneva "which inspire hope in a possible political solution. Lukacevic called on the importance of delivering humanitarian assistance in areas under siege of the opposition armed group.
