Russia and Germany will make every effort to prevent the tragedy similar to World War Two from being repeated, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday following talks with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
"We paid homage to those who perished in the Battle of Stalingrad, laid wreaths on Mamayev Kurgan, visited a memorial to the fallen Soviet and German soldiers in Rossoshka. Needless to say how emotional and touching all this is," Russia’s top diplomat noted. "We’ll never forget what we were able to see on Stalingrad soil."
"Here one keenly feels the responsibility before the future generations, one realizes the need to exert every effort to prevent such tragedies from being repeated," Lavrov added.
