Russia lauds the agreement to reset the Palestinian-Israeli talks, the Foreign Ministry reported on Monday. “Russia hails a statement by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry at the press conference in Amman on July 19. Kerry said an agreement in principle had been reached to reset the Palestinian-Israeli talks on the final status of the Palestinian territories,” the ministry said. “Moscow acknowledges the U.S. Secretary of State’s statement saying Israeli and Palestinian negotiators will leave for Washington within days in order to finalize a formula on resuming the talks,” the ministry said. “We are still convinced that the Palestinians and Israelis themselves can and should arrange all aspects of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement in compliance with international legal standards, including U.N. Security Council Resolutions ?? 242 and 338, the Madrid Principles, the Arab Peace Initiative and the Quartet resolutions,” the ministry said.
