Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that his country would accept any decision of the Syrian people regarding who will lead Syria. Lavrov said during a meeting here today with UN-Arab joint envoy to Syria Kofi Annan that Russia supports the peaceful solution of the Syrian crisis, denying that it supports the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad reiterating that Russia's policy does not revolve around one person. The Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting on Tuesday with Kofi Annan, who is on a two-day visit to Moscow. The Kremlin said in a statement broadcast on the Russian president's site on the Internet, that Russia's support for Annan's Plan it is expected to be confirmed during the meeting. The statement said that Russia believes that the Annan Plan is the only viable plan for solving the internal Syrian problems.
