A Russian plane laden with 36 tons of humanitarian assistance including food supplies arrived here Thursday with a purpose of alleviating the suffering of the Syrian refugees camping in Jordan, the state-run Petra news agency reported.Ayman Riad, director of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Commission, said the assistance will be soon distributed to the Syrian refugees, voicing appreciation for Russia for its support to reduce the burdens assumed by the Jordanian government.He added that increase of assistance provided to the Syrian refugees will be helpful as the number of Syrians fleeing to Jordan has been rising.According to official figures, Jordan is harboring more than 500,000 refugees.
