Russia has sent another consignment of humanitarian aid to Syria, the Emergency Situations Ministry said Tuesday. "An Il-62 and an Il-76 aircraft carrying humanitarian aid have landed in Syria," ministry spokeswoman Irina Rossius told reporters. She added that on their way back, the planes would pick up the Russian and other countries' nationals who would like to leave that war-torn country. The planes delivered aid to Latakia airport under the control of the Syrian government forces. Russia regularly sends humanitarian aid to Syria and for Syrian refugees in the neighboring countries and brings home Russian nationals, mostly women. On May 29, two planes delivered 22 tonnes of cargo to Latakia and evacuated 128 people from Russia and Commonwealth of Independence States (CIS) countries. In April, Russian planes have delivered three times humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan.
