Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia reserves the right to respond to any unfriendly steps in relations with the United States, Sputnik News reported on Monday.
“We reserve the right to respond appropriately to all unfriendly steps against us,” the ministry said in its 2014 review.
“While building interaction with the American side, we cannot ignore steps taken by the Obama administration for the aggravation of bilateral relations, the actual freezing of contacts in most areas, and the increasing sanctions pressure on Russia, aimed at weakening the Russian economy and ‘shaking up’ the domestic political situation,” the document reads.
According to the ministry, leaving the “spiral of confrontation” and returning to stable bilateral relations will only be possible when Washington puts an end to its “hostile actions” against Moscow.
