Russian and Egyptian FMs discuss situation in Middle East

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry have discussed the situation in the Middle East, particularly focusing on the latest developments in Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

"[The sides] exchanged opinions on the situation in the Middle East with an emphasis on recent developments in Syria and around it. They stressed the importance of continuing active efforts with an aim of soonest political settlement of the crisis, including mobilizing international support for the process of reaching national accord in the Syrian Arab Republic," the foreign ministry stressed.

"The ministers also discussed several practical steps in the framework of further strengthening Russian-Egyptian cooperation in foreign policy," the ministry added.
