Russian destroyer to enter port of Havana

The Russian destroyer Vice-Admiral Kulakov will enter the port of Havana by ending the trans-Atlantic passage within the detachment of Russian Navy combat vessels, spokesman to the Northern Fleet Yevgeny Kirillov told Itar-Tass. During the stay in Havana, Vice-Admiral Kulakov will have time for the rest while marines will go sightseeing, the spokesman said. “The Trans-Atlantic passage last for 14 days. The crewmembers trained several tasks to organize anti-submarine and air defence and eliminate training floating mines, and conducted a battle with a naval surface ship of an hypothetical aggressor, trained the elements of rescue operations at sea and manoeuvring of ships within the detachment,” Kirillov said. Vice-Admiral Kulakov left Severomorsk on May 11. It took part in the Pomor 2013 exercises and visited the ports of Bergen (Norway), Liverpool (Britain), Lisbon (Portugal) and Limassol (Cyprus).
