A Russian diplomat has met with the detained Uralkali company head. "The meeting with Vladislav Baumgertner has been held. I will come to the lawyers and then give you the comments," first secretary of the Russian Embassy Gavriil Mamontov told reporters. The official representative of the Russian Embassy was in the Belarusian State Security Committee’s detention jail for 50 minutes. Uralkali CEO Baumgertner was detained in Minsk on August 26 and taken into custody in connection with the investigation launched by the Belarusian Prosecutor-General's Office. The republic's Investigative Committee said it was based on materials of abuses committed by top managers for personal gain. As a result, according to the Belarusian Investigative Committee, it harmed the republic's state and public interests, Belaruskali and the Belarusian potash company.
