Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described as "useful", the discussions on Syria he conducted with his international counterparts in the UN Security Council session last night. Lavrov said in a press statement issued in New York that he met with US state secretary Hilary Clinton, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, Britain's Foreign Secretary William Hague, and France's Foreign Minister Alain Juppe. He stressed that the discussion focused on the Syrian file. He added that he considered the meeting to be useful whether it was part of the official UN Security Council summit or unofficial bilateral and multilateral talks following it. The Russian minister asserted that his talks with Clinton addressed other topics besides the Syrian file including urgent international issues, inter-alia the situation in Iran and bilateral relations.
