The Russian foreign ministry on Friday welcomed the formation of a commission by the Malian government to reconcile the country s warring communities. The ministry said in a statement aired over Voice of Russia today , hoped the commission on Dialogue and Reconciliation could contribute to realize urgent settlement necessary to resolve the crisis in Mali. It is noted that the said commission consists of 30 representatives, the chairman and his two deputies, all appointed by President Diocunda Traore. The commission is also expected to register cases of human rights violations committed during the ongoing standoff between government troops and militants in the country s north. Earlier Wednesday, the government of Mali officially announced the formation of a committee for dialogue and reconciliation which task will for putting an end to the political crisis gripping the country for more than a year.
