Russian humanitarian aid delivered to east Ukraine's Luhansk

A Russian Emergencies Ministry convoy with humanitarian aid has arrived in Luhansk, a deputy head of the ministry’s National Center for Crisis Management said on Friday.
"More than 80 trucks have brought foodstuffs, essentials and medicines for the citizens of the Luhansk region," Oleg Voronov said.
The 16th convoy is expected to deliver more than 1,800 tons of humanitarian cargos to Luhansk and neighboring Donetsk on Friday, and 80% of these supplies are foodstuffs.
No accidents were reported when the aid convoy was on its way through the Donbas region. "Now the vehicles are being unloaded at the storage, and the process also involves volunteers," Voronov said.
The trucks are to be sent back to southern Russia’s Rostov region, he said.
Since mid-August 2014, Russian convoys have delivered more than 20,000 tons of humanitarian aid to eastern Ukraine.
Russia’s Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov said earlier the ministry’s activity has helped prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and save hundreds of lives of the elderly, women and children who needed support, and also stabilise the sanitary and epidemic situation in the region.
