Russian PM eye boost to Moscow-Bangkok ties

Moscow and Bangkok have all necessary potentials to give a boost to bilateral ties, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said during the first visit by a Russian prime minister to Thailand since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha expressed hope that the two countries would have new projects in store by 2017 when they will mark the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Noting that Russia was seeking to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, he said Moscow and Bangkok "should look closely into cooperation within the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) framework".
"At our first meeting we agreed to intensify our relations, and we believe there are absolutely all conditions for that," Medvedev said at talks with the Thai counterpart in an extended format.
"We wish your government success in the implementation of the transformation program," Medvedev told Prayut Chan-ocha.
