Russian police reveal theft of budget funds at defence enterprise

The police have revealed a theft of budget funds at a defence enterprise. A suspect is former Director of the Raschet research enterprise, the police told Itar-Tass on Friday. “The economy security police division together with FSB and the police department at Moscow’s Southern District and with support from Rostechnologii’s security service revealed theft of big amount of money,” the police said. Over 2008-2023, the enterprise’s director signed agreements with several organisations on mediator services to favour contracts on supplies of explosives. “The company did not receive approvals from Rostechnologii,” the police said. Besides, the enterprise “had financial and business relations with most clients buying the special chemicals and did not require any agent services.” “The mediator companies received over 42 million roubles,” the source continued. “Later on, the money was cashed out, and the involved individuals got it.” A criminal case on theft has been opened. The police have searched houses and offices of the involved.
